The UEFA Nations League was once again a fantastic spectacle, as Portugal and Spain battled it out at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Despite the match ending in a deadlock, a clash between these two teams always guarantees fans a beautiful display of high-intensity football. This match will be the fourth draw in a row between them, continuing Portugal’s streak against Spain without a competitive win since 2004.
The Spaniards got off to a terrific start as Alvaro Morata scored the game’s opening goal in the 25th minute, bringing him three goals closer to Raul’s record of 61 goals across all age groups. However, despite having more chances in the game’s early and late minutes, Spain missed by the skin of their teeth and could not kill the game off.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, on the other hand, finally found the back of the goal after multiple attempts when substitute Ricardo Horta equalized only 8 minutes to the full time. The Braga winger got a beautiful cross from Cancelo and sent it beyond the Spanish goalkeeper.
The contest met expectations, and spectators had a great time watching it. Both teams now have nine points to play for in the tournament, which will determine their fate.
